Gangster Squad

This was another trailer that played in front of Dark Shadows that had me very interested.  Based on the book "Tales from the Gangster Squad" by Paul Lieberman, Gangster Squad is a period crime drama that takes place in the late 40s about crime boss Mickey Cohen.  Ruben Fleischer, who has directed the silly 30 Minutes Or Less in addition to the fantastic Zombieland (and it's eventual sequel), here directs an amazing cast of actors:  Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Anthony Mackie, Giovanni Ribisi, Robert Patrick, Mireille Enos, Michael Peña, Nick Nolte and of course Sean Penn as crime boss Mickey Cohen.

Gangster Squad is tentatively scheduled for release on October 19.  Looking forward to it as well.

Argo

Having just returned from being disappointed by the Johnny Depp film Dark Shadows, I just had to write about the trailer for Argo, a movie releasing this fall by Ben Affleck.  Based on true events (what movie nowadays isn't), Argo is a political drama based on the 1979 Iran hostage crisis where the United States and Canadian officials attempt their rescue by sending in a CIA operative with the purpose of disguising the hostages as a film crew for a fake science fiction movie called Argo, and smuggling them out.

Produced by George Clooney and directed by Ben Affleck, the political thriller has a stellar cast of Bryan Cranston, Alan Arkin, Kyle Chandler, Victor Garber, John Goodman, Tate Donovan, Clea Duvall, Titus Welliver, Zeljko Ivanek, Adrienne Barbeau, Philip Baker Hall and Ben Affleck himself.  Argo is scheduled for October 12.

Really looking forward to seeing it!
